O Incógnito was born from the innovative and restless spirit of Carrie and Hans Jorgensen. At Cortes de Cima, plot 9C is the first vineyard of the Syrah variety planted in Alentejo. When in 1991 Hans Jorgensen planted the vines with grafts coming directly from the Rhône, in a limestone area at the top of a hill, he did not imagine that the vineyard would produce a wine that would mark the region and the wines of Alentejo. This wine was produced exclusively from the Syrah variety. The grapes were rigorously selected as they were in optimal ripeness. They were fermented without stems, at controlled temperatures, and with regular délestage, with an extended maceration period of the skins to enhance the fruit aroma and achieve a good balance and structure of tannins. Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels (90%) and American oak (10%) until bottling.
